Everything started on a Bla Bla Car. We decided to come back to Valencia from a concert in Madrid by sharing a car. The driver was a girl, near her thirties, with a lot of experiences and travels on her shoulders. I have always been fascinated by people who have had the opportunity to travel to a lot of places. That is why I asked her which part of the world liked her the most. And, as you suppose, she answered Australia. 

She talked about surfing, koalas, barbeques, natural parks, dangerous animals, dream sunsets... and, most importantly, with the hope of coming back. 

I talked to her I have still several months to finish my master's degree but that I had no idea what to do next. I confessed to her my idea of not staying in Spain, my willingness to leave the country in search of spending some time abroad, but still not sure about which country to go. That was the moment she insisted me on going to Australia undoubtedly. She mentioned the labor opportunities, the visas that allowed people to come here and, especially, the great quality of life. That journey was not the moment I decided to come here, but it planted the seed that would later blossom. 

Days later of that conversation, I remembered the words of that girl about Australia and decided to investigate a little bit about it. I did not sleep that night because I could not stop reading about other people's experiences here, videos about their countless travels or interviews of people talking about curiosities about Australia. That little seed was flourishing and I was not noticing. 

From that same night, Australia occupied all my thoughts. I did not stop thinking about walking across that beaches with ivory sand, surfing on that Capri color waves, visiting the mystic Uluru, hugging a koala, feeding kangaroos or doing a road trip in a van by that reddish desert... Australia was growing within me and when I noticed, it was already too late. One day after class I went directly to an agency, I was informed about what to do if I wanted to go there. And that is when I realized the decision was already made, but I still was missing one approval to carry out the plan: my parents. 

Telling my parents was not an easy task. I started by confessing them I was unhappy in Valencia and by telling them the necessity I felt of spending some time abroad so that to gain working and personal experience. They acknowledged my reasons until I told them the destiny I was thinking about. At first, they commented me worryingly that it was too far away from Spain and tried to persuade me to go to Ireland or the United Kingdom instead. I explained to them I had already talked with an agency, the advantages of studying and working at the same time in Australia, the facilities to find a job, high salaries, the great quality of life... I insisted on not giving me a definite answer until they were informed about all the process. 

That the same week they came to Valencia, Spain, to talk with the people from the agency so that they could ask any doubts they had. Once we finished, I remembered my father asking me "Well, when are you going?" That was the moment I knew I was going to Australia. 

In reality, it was not me the one who chose to come here. It was a sharing journey, several circumstances and a conversation just at the right time the main factors who have let me live the dream of living in Melbourne, Australia. I like to think it was Australia the one who made the decision for me, I still do not know what I am doing exactly here in Australia, I still do not know what I am going to do with my life, whether I stay longer or shorter. What I have no doubt about is living the moment, not thinking about the past or the future.
